Kinja'd!!!

I did have a little encounter with one of the new guys. First day of freedom for him + lack experience? Not so fast buddy. It was already planned the day before that he would work with the guy working on preventive maintenance but the guy was already drooling on the drivers reports about repairs needed to be done on their trucks. When I told him that he had to work with the guy on PM, he went super defensive. The conversation is as follow:

HIM: Who the hell said that!? Who are you to tell me this? Who said that I had to work on PM??.

ME: The boss told me yesterday.

HIM: He didn't tell me! Who told you that I had to work on PM??

ME: The boss!

HIM: But he didn't tell me. It migh....

PM guy: He told me also that you were working with me.

HIM: ....ok.

I felt bad, but that was the plan for the moment. I got debriefed by the night shift mechanic, took decisions and started work.

I did 3 trucks that was planned to be fixed (could had done WAY more if it wasn't for interruptions) and did 5 trucks that were departing. I was interrupted all the time! I got a lot of calls and visits from drivers in the morning and then it settled in the afternoon. Then it was the fuel station not giving fuel for one of the driver's reefer trailer, after that it was the guy working on windshields that called me multiple times to know where the trucks are or what to do with the trucks that he found a defect on. Then I worked on a broker's truck under the table just to change a belt. I checked all the drivers reports and gave the ones that the new guy could do once he was done working with the PM guy (see! I'm not a bad guy after all)...and on and on and on. I ran everywhere, but I was happy and seeing the satisfaction of drivers and some mechanics after I answered their multiple questions with all the knowledge I knew and a small search on Google when I had trouble answering, was relieving somewhat!

All of this payed off. A driver said that the garage felt lively " you guys are always happy and you guys work hard to fix our trucks with care. Take this 10$ AMERICAN bill. Buy donuts for everyone in the garage but don't tell it's me.". So tomorrow, I'm buying a shit load of donuts for everyone in the garage.

We then closed the garage and hopefully tomorrow we wont find it burnt down hahaha.

So yeah, it was a good day.
